A qualified polymer technologist with 35 years experience in marketing/product/business development and staff training in the polymer industry. An expert in polymer materials, design, processing and environmental concerns who has extensive knowledge of, and contacts in the UK and continental European Polymers Industry.

Fluent in English, Polish and German

Based in Manchester.

Consultant to the organisations listed below, (1998 - Present)

Institute of Materials, Manager of the Environet 2000 project, (1997- 1998)

The European funded project was designed to develop environmental awareness and promote action in small and medium size enterprises with a budget of £125,000 and a staff of two Project Officers and two Consultants. Environmentally driven savings achieved were £0.6M.

BASF plc Plastics Division, Market Development Manager, (1976- 1997)

Following product and language training at BASF Ludwigshafen I took charge of the UK market development and technical service group which had responsibility for the business development and technical service for the whole range of BASF thermoplastics. This ultimately led to the establishment of a Technical Centre with a staff of four and extensive laboratory facilities.

From 1990-1995, my specific interest was the development of business at the Japanese transplants particularly with Nissan and Toyota.

During the last three years my responsibility was the development of business in Automotive / Telectronics / Packaging sectors taking advantage of the recently evolved environmental pressures / legislation.

As part of the market development activities, I established strong contacts with the British Plastics Federation, Institute of Materials and the British Polymer Training Association.

Key achievements are listed below.

WCB Plastics Ltd., Production Engineering Manager, (1974- 1976)

My prime responsibility was the establishment of manufacturing standards and the required operator training for the main production process of injection moulding. This included the setting up of a product testing laboratory and relevant staff training modules.

Shell Chemical Company, Technical Service Engineer, (1965- 1974)

Following extensive product and practical industry training (one year secondment to a major processor) I joined the technical service team responsible for technical support to customers in the injection moulding sector. The principle products covered were Polystyrene I Polypropylene / High density Polyethylene and expanded Polystyrene.

Apart from customer, involvement the team was also responsible for process development. The studies I managed led to the development of the patented Shell Structural Moulding Process and also a process for the extrusion of foamed thermoplastics.
